#PlantTipTuesday Roundup: October 2019
Every week, we feature a #PlantTipTuesday post on our Facebook page. We had a lot of plant tips for the month of October! Here are some of the helpful hints you may have missed:
Shorter Days Means Less Light
Fall is here, bringing shorter days and different angles of sunlight than our plants enjoyed during the summer. Make sure to adjust accordingly! Some of your indoor plants may need to find a new spot in your home to make sure they still receive the proper amount of light to continue to thrive.
Take a Break from Fertilizer
Foliage growth slows down considerably during the fall & winter months, so take a break from giving your houseplants any fertilizer and just focus on the basics - light & water. You can resume giving your plants fertilizer in the spring, when the growth season begins!
Group Plants Together to Increase Humidity
Most houseplants prefer a humid environment, but cooler outside temps mean dry indoor air. Try grouping like-plants together to increase humidity. Plants are very good at self-care, and like-plants are great at caring for each other!
Avoid Overwatering
Plants need less water during the fall & winter months since they are getting less light and growing slowly. Take care not to overwater your plants during these cold seasons by making sure the soil is completely dry before watering.
